01 What this policy covers
This policy explains how juliansoft.lv, the website of IT Julian Soft SIA (Registration No. 40203766520), uses cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage and comparable browser storage. It describes what the site places on your device today, what it would place there only after you agree, and how to change that decision at any time.
It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers personal data more broadly — for example the details you send us when you make an enquiry. Where the two documents overlap, read them together.
This policy covers this website only. Software we build for clients — online stores, landing pages and SaaS platforms — runs on the client's own domain and infrastructure, and the storage it uses is governed by that client's own policies. Section 07 says more about that.
02 What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep. Once set, the browser sends it back with every subsequent request to that site, which is what makes cookies useful for sessions and for tracking. Cookies carry an expiry date and disappear on their own when it passes.
localStorage is a simple key-and-value store built into the browser. It differs from a cookie in two ways that matter: nothing is sent to a server automatically — the value is readable only by scripts running on the same site — and there is no expiry date, so an entry stays until it is deleted by the site or by you. sessionStorage works the same way but is emptied the moment the browser tab is closed.
European law does not care much about the distinction. Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive covers the storing of, or access to, any information on a user's device. Consent is required for all of it, with one exception: storage that is strictly necessary to provide the service the user asked for. We treat cookies and local storage under the same rules on this site.
03 What this site actually stores
The table below is the complete inventory. At the time of writing, exactly one entry is ever created by juliansoft.lv, and it is created only after you answer the consent banner.

No analytics provider is connected to this website today. The last two rows describe a
category that is reserved and consent-gated, not storage that exists. If you open your
browser's storage inspector on juliansoft.lv, the only entry you will find is
js-cookie-consent.
04 Categories we use
Strictly necessary — always on
One entry falls into this category: js-cookie-consent. It exists purely
to record and honour the answer you gave to the consent banner. Storage of this kind does
not require consent under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, because without it the
site could not respect the preference you expressed. Refusing it is not possible without
also losing the record of your refusal, which is why it is written whichever button you
press.
Analytics and performance — optional
This category is switched on only if you select “Accept all”. Its purpose is aggregate measurement: which pages are read, which are ignored, whether a page is slow. It is not used to build a profile of you, and it is not used to contact you. Choosing “Essential only” keeps it off, and the site works identically either way.
What we do not use
- No advertising, remarketing or conversion-tracking storage.
- No cross-site or third-party tracking cookies, and no data sold or handed to ad networks.
- No social media plugins, embedded video players, comment systems or live-chat widgets.
- No device fingerprinting, and no attempt to identify you across other websites.
05 Your choices and how to change them
On your first visit a banner appears at the bottom of the screen with two buttons:
Essential only and Accept all. Both are real choices and
both are equally easy to press; neither is pre-selected, and nothing optional runs while
the banner is still waiting for an answer. Your answer is written to localStorage under
js-cookie-consent and the banner stays away until you change it.
You can revisit that decision whenever you like. The button below clears the stored value and brings the banner straight back, so you can answer again. The same control is available as “Cookie preferences” in the footer of every page.
Change your mind at any time. This resets the stored consent value and reopens the banner immediately — no account, no form, nothing sent to a server.
Withdrawing consent is as straightforward as giving it, and it costs you nothing: no feature of this site depends on the analytics category.
06 Managing storage in your browser
Your browser can inspect, delete and block cookies and local storage independently of any website. The paths below were accurate at the date of this policy; menu wording changes from version to version, so treat them as a guide.
- Chrome — Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies, and Delete browsing data › “Cookies and other site data”. Per-site data lives under Settings › Privacy and security › Site settings › View permissions and data stored across sites.
- Firefox — Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data › Manage Data, where you can search for a single site and remove it.
- Safari — on macOS, Safari › Settings › Privacy › Manage Website Data. On iOS and iPadOS, Settings › Apps › Safari › Advanced › Website Data.
- Edge — Settings › Cookies and site permissions › Manage and delete cookies and site data › See all cookies and site data.
Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window, which discards all site storage when the window is closed.
If you block or clear storage for this site, the consent banner has nowhere to record your answer, so it will appear again on every visit. Nothing else on the site breaks — all pages remain fully readable.
07 Third-party services
This site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. Every page includes stylesheet and font-file requests to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, which means your browser contacts Google's servers and your IP address and user-agent string are visible to Google as part of that request. According to Google's own documentation the Fonts API does not set cookies, but the request itself is made regardless of your consent choice because it is part of how the pages render. If you would rather avoid it, a browser extension that blocks third-party font requests will prevent it, at the cost of the site falling back to system typefaces.
Beyond web fonts, this website embeds no third-party content: no maps, no video players, no tag managers, no social widgets and no advertising scripts.
Projects we build for clients are a separate matter. A store we deploy will connect to a payment provider such as Stripe or PayPal; a platform we deliver will run on cloud hosting such as AWS, DigitalOcean or Google Cloud; a landing page may include the analytics tool the client has chosen. Those services set their own cookies and storage on the client's domain, under their own terms and privacy policies. In those engagements the client is the controller of their own website, and it is the client's own cookie notice that applies — not this one.
08 Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Honestly stated: this site does not currently read the Do Not Track (DNT) header or the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, because there is nothing for either signal to switch off. No analytics runs, no profiling takes place, and nothing you type into this site is transmitted anywhere — the enquiry form on the contact page is not connected to a backend, so even a completed form sends nothing. Apart from the Google Fonts requests described in section 07, the default state of this site is already the state those signals ask for.
Do Not Track never gained a common interpretation among websites and has been largely abandoned by the browsers that introduced it, which is why we make no claim to honour it. Global Privacy Control is a better-defined signal. If we ever enable the optional analytics category described above, we will treat a GPC signal as a refusal of that category and will update this section accordingly.
09 Changes to this policy
If the storage used by this site changes — for example if an analytics tool is actually connected — this policy is updated before the change goes live, and the date at the top of the page is revised. There is no separate archive of earlier versions; the date shown is the version in force.
Where a change affects what you consented to, we reset the stored consent value so that the banner reappears and you can make the decision again with the new facts in front of you. Continued use of the site after a purely editorial change means the updated wording applies.
